G1:GP Indycar Surfers Paradise..

The G1GP's new season opened at a circuit that must be the worst named circuit around.. why?

Because it is rarely paradise for the drivers with many corners having room for zero errors and thus a high incident rate.

The returning Remon seemed to have the circuit sorted, however, as he raced to an early lead from Sulla.

Crippy, Yuriko, Jafo and Suzy were left to battle over third place while Rattra, Katier and PJ brought up the rear. PJ had been the unfortunate victim in T1 of contact with Katier as she was distracted by the strange disappearance of her FFB.

Up front Remon soon stretched his lead from Sulla but Crippy soon hit trouble. She suddenly realise she'd omitted to change to her race setup and as a consquence found herself hampered. She pitted early then collided with Katier before retiring.

Her retirement was not the first as both PJ and Remon retired fairly early. Remon must have been very disapointed as he looked set for a comfortable win. He wasn't the first to make a mistake, however.

Katier retired next losing it in the first chicane and deciding enough was enough. The Sulla retired from the lead, like Remon she had time in hand and her accident was made under minimal pressure. That left a startled Suzy leading from Jafo, Rattra and Yuriko. She was showing everyone how to run in a race around this chicane strewn track as she finished the race without a single mistake for a well deserved first win.

Yuriko dragged a battered car to the finish minus a front wing and certainly not steering properly while Rattra gained a podium finish after a fairly clean run.

All in all a crazy start to the season that now moves on to the ovals for round 2.
